What to Consider When Choosing an Electrical Potting Compound

Electrical parts, devices, and equipment are best protected and perform better if they are equipped with an electrical potting compound. The key purpose of the potting compound is to secure and protect electrical assemblies against moisture damage and electrical insulation. The potting process can be done both automatically through the meter-mix-dispense tool or manually. In general, the compound is able to resist the impact of vibration and shock while providing great stability in elevated temperatures. Most potting compounds are available in various types such as epoxy, hot melt, polyesters, polyurethanes, and silicones.
